Peter Nygard, owner of Nygard International, had bought this company on loan when he was working at Jacob’s Ladies Wear in shipping department. Now, his company is claimed to be the largest manufacturer for women clothing. According to Nygard, women clothing design must be elegant. He knows how women who take up different kinds of jobs, want to look good at all times and reflects this aspect in his designs. In fact, his line of clothing has become a rage with every woman. This clothing company was in near bankruptcy state when Nygard bought it way back in 1967.
Today, Nygard International is reaping about one billion dollars annually. Peter Nygard continues to work seven days a week and 14 to 15 hours a day, even after turning this ordinary clothing manufacturing company into a dynasty that it is today. He opines that if a person enjoys his or her work, it never feels like work. To quote his exact words “The only time you are working is, when you wish you were doing something else.” His reputation for good showmanship is what made this company very famous with women.
Nygard International has many clothing showrooms in Toronto, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Montreal, California, Gardena, New York and Mexico. Three divisions of this manufacturing company are Peter Nygard Signature, the Nygard Collection and Bianca Nygard. Retail shops more than 500 in number are present in Canada and the U.S. that sell his collection. His flair for designing women apparel makes him a successful designer.
